The management of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Benue State, has suspended the Final Year Brethren (FYB) Week and all associated social activities on campus with immediate effect.
The directive was contained in a notice dated October 16, 2026, issued by the Office of the Dean of Students and signed by the Dean, Dr. Nelson O. Alyebo.
According to the notice, the decision followed what the university described as a gross violation of the conditions attached to the approval granted for the Student Union Week and FYB Week celebrations.
The university had earlier permitted the Student Union Week to run concurrently with the FYB Week, subject to strict conditions, including responsible conduct in line with university regulations, decent dressing, and the avoidance of activities capable of bringing the institution into disrepute.
However, the Dean of Students stated that the conditions were allegedly violated during the celebrations, necessitating the suspension of the FYB Week and all related social activities on campus.
The notice further warned that students involved in the alleged indecent acts, despite previous cautions, would be investigated and reprimanded in accordance with the university’s existing regulations.
The directive was copied to the Vice-Chancellor, Chief Security Officer, Students’ Staff Advisers, Student Union President, and leaders of departmental associations for their information and necessary action.
The suspension takes immediate effect, bringing the FYB Week celebrations and associated social activities on campus to a halt.
Students are expected to comply with the directive as the university moves to enforce its regulations and address the reported violations.
